"Under the assumptions of this study, the hybrid solution reduces the levelized cost of consumed energy by 7 percent compared to a system relying solely on Li-ion batteries, while simultaneously increasing PV self-consumption by up to 20 percent," they claimed.
Meanwhile, the hybrid configuration delivered a substantial boost in PV self-consumption which is the amount of solar energy used directly by the building rather than exported to the grid. The PV self-consumption rate reached 68.3 percent in the hybrid system with a heat pump and 68.1 percent in the lithium-only version with a heat pump.
