We revealed the 3D spatial distribution of deep geothermal reservoirs, cap rocks, heat-controlling and water-conducting faults in Xiong'an New Area. We established a geothermal genesis model and evaluated the geothermal potential of different geothermal fields.
Similar flow trajectories considering the surface topography have been proposed in other sites ( Frey et al., 2022 ). 6. Conclusions The Xiong'an New Area has been identified as rich in geothermal resources and is considered as a test and validation geologic laboratory for the development of geothermal energy generation technologies in China.
In the northern part of Xiong'an New Area, under the combined influence of mantle-derived heat flow and radiogenic heat generation, the shallow Wumishan Formation of the Jixian System and Gaoyuzhuang Formation of the Changcheng System serve as thermal reservoirs, with the Neogene serving as the caprock.
The geothermal reserves in the carbonate thermal reservoir of the Xiong'an New Area range from 35.6 × 10 16 to 297.9 × 10 18 kJ in value, which is equivalent to an energy content of approximately 10 billion tons of coal ( Wang et al., 2018 ). Fig. 1. Location: topography and geology framework.
