How Does Solar Power Create Electricity? Solar power generates electricity by using either solar thermal systems that convert sunlight into heat to produce steam that drives a generator, or photovoltaic systems, which transform sunlight into electricity through the photovoltaic effect.

There are different ways of capturing solar radiation and converting it into usable energy. The methods use either active solar energy or passive solar energy. The legal aspect of this "Master Plan" was agreed as the "ASEAN Power Grid’s Roadmap for Integration" at the 20th AMEM Meeting in Bali on July 5, 2002.
